2009-2010 Lethbridge Ladies Volleyball League Rules
Current Canadian Volleyball Association (CVA) rules will be in effect with the following format:
- Any teams playing with less than 6 players will take a forfeit – they may play their game, but will lose 25 – 0. We strongly discourage playing with less than a full team – please use the spares list. An updated copy of the spares listing can be found on the website – contact info@llvbl.com if you cannot remember your user name and password.
- Any player not registered properly will not be eligible to play in the league and any team found to be using ineligible players will forfeit any games those individuals played. Ineligible players include anyone not registered with a team or the singles list, anyone under the age of eighteen as of December 31st, 2009, or anyone currently playing high school, college, or university volleyball (or if after January 1st, anyone that played during the fall semester with a school affiliated team).
- Teams cannot put an injured player in the corner of the court and play with five people.
- Regular league play matches will consist of two games with two points awarded per win. Each two game match will consist of a two game “rally point” format with each game capped at 27 points. Rules for tournaments will be given with tournament information.
- The let service will be in effect at all times. Let Service means that if the ball contacts the net during service and lands in the opponents’ court it will be deemed as a live ball and be played as a regular serve.
- One time out per set/game is allowed, during league and tournament play. Keep these timeouts SHORT!
- All six games for each team should be completed within 2 hours This 2 hours includes set up/take down of equipment. We can get into most facilities before our start time, so please make sure your team is early.
- Teams will have 5 minutes beyond the scheduled start time to ‘field’ a team (i.e.6 players) after which the first gameis forfeited (25-0). An additional 5 minutes will be allowed before the 2nd game is forfeited. This only applies to the first match of the night, the other 2 matches are forfeits if you do not have 6 players at the beginning of the match.
- The league will be split into two tiers: 1 through 12 will play against each other and 13 through 20 will play against each other. Teams will be reseeded after each 5 week rotation. The top 2 teams in Tier II will switch ranks with the bottom 2 teams in Tier I. (i.e. The team ranked 13 will switch with 11 and 14 will switch with 12.)
- Tie breakers at the end of each rotation will be determined by wins-losses between the tied teams. If teams are still tied, the determination will be points for and against.
- Teams are to play their matches according to the schedule. Teams must stick to the outlined times, courts and opponents.
Scoring
- The winning team from each game must record the final scores on the sheets provided in the gym. Failure to fill out the score sheets will result in 0 points given for those games.
- The designated team (as indicated on the schedule) must submit the scores via our website (www.llvbl.com) for each match during that time period no later than 24 hoursfollowing the matches. Please keep the scoresheets in case they are needed at a later time.
- Please indicate any forfeited games or defaults on the score sheet when providing the scores.
- Points are awarded as follows:
